Skipper taken prisoner, Crew released
20/02/1917 The Ashwold has been officially announced as being sunk by a German Warship. The skipper was taken as Prisoner of War. The remainder of the crew were set adrift with a small supply of water and food. They were rescued by a Hull trawler after 71 hours. Most were frost bitten and could hardly walk when landed.
